Curtis Gitonga

CHIEF PILOT AND HEAD OF AIR OPERATIONS

Born in July 3rd 1989, Curtis Gitonga was always fascinated with flying. Curtis went to flying school in the Philippine where he got his Commercial Pilot License in 2012. He has gained various ratings on the twin engine PA-34 Seneca while flying abroad, and came back home (Kenya) where he began doing his caravan rating. For over 5 years, Curtis has pursued being a flight instructor having done over 1700hrs on the Station Air C-206 plus several ratings, and full command in C-172, C-206, C-208, PA 34-200, all enlisted in his flight license.

Curtis got introduced to Skydive Diani in May 2018 where he came down to hold the front for his predecessor Aaron while he was on vacation, for about a month. His skills and confidence earned him an offer to come down to Diani to take on the role of Chief Pilot and Head of Air Operations which was an offer he couldn’t say no to. Basically this was a ‘Dream Come True’ as he would put it.

I remember I used to tell my mum when we went up country and saw the KDF Air Force fly by our house that one day I will be a pilot and since it is cold in Meru (my rural place) I would fly and drop blankets for her to keep warm…

…and every morning, I wake up super excited about my job preflight my boo make sure nothing is wrong or out of place and when it is time to start and go her sound is just perfect when I turn her on, with a breath taking view that never grows old
